James B. Shovlin is a civil litigation attorney practicing in the areas of insurance defense and coverage and civil litigation, representing insurance companies and their clients in tort-based liability matters.

James obtained his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in 2017. During law school, James clerked for two law firms in New York and New Jersey and volunteered in the Brooklyn CLARO Clinic, representing low-income clients being sued by creditors in Civil Court.  He published an article in the New York State Bar Association’s General Practice Journal entitled “Horseplay: Employee’s Fault, Employer’s Burden.”

While attending Brooklyn Law School, James also clerked with the Hudson County Law Department and interned with the Veteran Advocacy Project of the Urban Justice Center in New York, representing clients in recovering VA benefits.  In 2014, James graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration.

Prior to joining CLMC, James clerked for the Honorable Radames Velazquez, Jr., P.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson County Vicinage.
