Aastha Kataky-Alvarez is a civil litigation attorney focusing her practice on residential and commercial tax appeals, land use, and zoning matters. Prior to joining the Firm, Aastha served as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Christine M. Nugent, Judge of Tax Court in Newark, New Jersey, where she assisted the Court in complex substantive and procedural tax matters and litigation in order to make legal determinations.
Aastha obtained her Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School, where she served as an Associate Editor and Diversity Committee Member of the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology. She also served as Chair for the Donna Jo Morse Client Counseling and Negotiations Moot Court Competition, Co-Chair for the Government Law Fellowship Program, and was an active member of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA). Aastha is a recipient of the John Dugan Prize for Tax Law, Tax Policy and Government Finance.
Prior to law school, Aastha earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Binghamton University, State University of New York. She is proficient in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, and Assamese, and is currently learning Spanish and Arabic.
