Maxwell J. Merker

Maxwell J. Merker is an associate at Chasan Lamparello Mallon & Cappuzzo, PC, focusing his practice on complex commercial, civil, land-use, and development-related litigation, representing municipalities, public entities, and private clients. He has experience serving on litigation teams challenging land-use applications and construction-related matters in New Jersey Superior Court, advocating before municipal councils and planning boards, and coordinating expert witnesses.

Maxwell also serves as an associate attorney on a team handling multi-million-dollar condominium association construction-defect litigation in Hudson County and provides ongoing counsel to North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue (NHRFR) on litigation, FMLA/NJFLA compliance, labor relations, and general counsel matters. Additionally, he has worked as an associate attorney for Hon. Peter F. Bariso, A.J. (Ret.) in his role as special discovery adjudicator in New Jersey Superior Court matters.

Before joining the Firm, Maxwell clerked for the Hon. Darren J. Del Sardo, P.J.Cv., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Passaic County, assisting with a high-volume motion and trial docket of complex construction, employment, personal-injury, medical-malpractice, and landlord-tenant matters.

He earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Newark, where he served as an Associate Editor of The Rutgers Law Record and as a Civil Procedure Teaching Fellow, and holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Syracuse University. Maxwell is active in the Passaic County Bar Association, serving as the Young Lawyers Division representative, a member of the Hudson County Bar Association, and volunteers with the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, providing pro bono legal assistance for Union City Law Day.
