Ralph J. Lamparello, past President of the New Jersey State Bar Association (2013-2014) will be the moderator and Hon. Peter F. Bariso, Jr., former Assignment Judge of Hudson Vicinage will be a speaker at “Sittin’ In With the DJ’s (With a Little Help from Two Retired AJ’s!)” on May 17, 4:30 p.m. They will be joined by former CLMC Partner Hon. Julien X. Neals of the US District Court for the District of NJ, Trenton, Hon. Michael A. Shipp of the US District Court for the District of NJ, Newark, and Hon. Georgia M. Curio, A.J.S.C. (Ret.). The esteemed panel will compare and contrast federal trial practice with state trial practice, and answer questions from the audience.
Also on May 17, Maria P. Vallejo, current President of the Hudson County Bar Association, will be a speaker at “Cultural Competency in Family Law Mediation and Settlement Conferences” at 9:30 a.m. At 4:30 p.m., Maria will join a distinguished panel of attorneys, government counsel, legislative leaders, and judges for “Pathways to the Bench.” The panel will discuss the process of becoming a judge and achieving diversity in the judiciary.
Also on May 18, Cheyne R. Scott will become Secretary of the Labor and Employment Executive Committee at a swearing-in ceremony beginning 10:00 a.m. At 1:15 pm, Cheyne will give a talk about race-based traumatic stress in the legal profession at “Understanding the Impact of Racial Trauma: Supporting the Mental Health of Minority Attorneys.”
