Focusing his practice on representing and counseling the local business owner, Robert A. Kaye draws on 40 years of extensive experience in business, corporate, commercial and real estate transactional matters. His broad background includes business formations, partnership and shareholder agreements, employment contracts, business acquisitions and sales, and commercial leasing and financing. Over the past four decades, he has represented national and local retail tenants in locations ranging from enclosed regional malls to small-town settings, as well as other industrial and commercial landlords and tenants. Other clients include a wide range of businesses, such as healthcare and internet providers, banking and insurance institutions, manufacturers, nonprofit corporations, food services, and professionals, including physicians, architects, lawyers and accountants.
Bob has handled hundreds of shopping center commercial lease agreements for tenants with major landlord developers including Simon, Mills, Tanger, Chelsea, DDR, Prime, Taubman, and Horizon. He has also structured the sales and purchases of various businesses, and represented banks and borrowers in commercial lending matters. His client list runs the gamut, including overseeing the creation of the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, a joint undertaking among five municipalities that resulted in the third largest fire department in the state and is now a national model for regionalization.
Recognized as a leader in his field, Bob is a co-founder and serves as the president of the Hudson-Bergen Inn of Transactional Counsel, a nonprofit organization charged with enhancing the quality of practice for attorneys engaged in transactional matters. In 2011 Bob was elected Chair of the Business Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, a section with approximately 1,000 members. Appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court, he is a former chair of the District VI Ethics Committee, and in 2001 served on the governor’s transition team of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, Division of Banking Subcommittee.
