CINDY
NAN VOGELMAN
Cindy Vogelman’s practice focuses on land use, commercial, probate and matrimonial litigation and appeals. Within these practice areas, Cindy brings a unique range of expertise to the firm, including her finely honed writing skills, excellence in oral advocacy and depth of knowledge of the law. As the chair of the appellate practice section of the firm, Cindy has written and argued tens of appeals, with a substantial number of reported decisions in the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division and the United States District Court.
Cindy’s approach to the law is as a problem solver, seeking and achieving resolutions in often challenging and esoteric matters. Known for her tenacity, Cindy is forthright and relentless in the advancement of her clients’ legal positions, in the court room or across the bargaining table. Cindy’s highly developed social conscience, evident in her representation and counseling of clients, is consistent with her years of volunteer involvement with Women Rising, Inc. (formerly known as the YWCA of Hudson County), a leading community social services agency, and with Fairmount Housing Corporation, a non-profit affordable housing developer and manager.
Recognized by the court as well as her peers as a lawyer of unmistakable integrity, Cindy has been appointed to serve by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to the Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law, from 2002 to the present, as well as to the District Fee Arbitration Committee, serving from 1994 through 1998, including for two years as its Chair, and again from 2004 to the present. Cindy receives frequent appointments by the Superior Court, including as receiver, special master, partition commissioner, apportionment guardian, counsel and/or guardian to alleged incapacitated persons, and for estate administration. She has participated as a Master in the Hudson Inn of Court. Cindy currently serves as the president of the Hudson County Bar Association. Martindale-Hubbell has awarded its highest peer review rating to Cindy for ethical standards and legal ability.
Cindy earned her undergraduate degree as well as a Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of the Boston University School of Law. She originally joined Chasan Leyner as a law clerk, becoming an associate in 1985, and was appointed a principal in 1993.
