Ron Botelho joined Chasan Lamparello Mallon & Cappuzzo as an Associate in 2014. He is a civil litigation attorney focusing his practice on the representation of victims of general and professional negligence. He has responsibility for all stages of litigation, with emphasis on case screening and intake, legal research, fact investigation, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiation, and trial preparation. He advocates each day for victims and their families who have been affected by:

  • Car, truck, bus and motorcycle accidents
  • Dangerous conditions on private, commercial and public property (Slip/Trip-and-fall)
  • Preventable medical errors by doctors, nurses and diagnosticians (Medical Malpractice)
  • Wrongful death
  • Nursing home neglect
  • Physical assaults and sexual abuse
  • Unsafe work conditions and on-the-job injuries
  • Dog bites

His work was highlighted in the New Jersey Law Journal’s Top 20 Personal Injury Awards of 2016, involving the matter of Czech v. Lakeside Environmental Consultants. The case resulted in an $8.6 million settlement - the second largest auto recovery in the State of New Jersey for the year. Ron also obtained a $1.4 million judgment for a victim of physical assault and unlawful restraint at the hands of a group hired to coerce a religious divorce and extort money from his family.

In addition, Ron represents parties in the litigation of commercial, chancery and estate disputes. In 2016, he successfully restored sole title to the primary residence of an 84-year old widow who signed a deed under undue influence exerted by a trusted financial advisor. He has also appeared in the Supreme Court of New York representing businesses in a variety of commercial disputes involving breach of contract, intentional interference with contractual relations, and unjust enrichment.

In 2018, Ron was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to a four-year term as a Member of the District VI Fee Arbitration Committee. Prior to joining CLM&C, Ron began his professional career serving the public in all three branches of government, as a Family Service Worker administering Emergency Housing, TANF, Food Stamps and Medicaid to families in Essex County, as Chief of Staff to the Honorable John F. McKeon, Deputy Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly, and as Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert L. Polifroni, Presiding Civil Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen Vicinage.

He earned a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall School of Law in 2011, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Montclair State University in 2006, where he served two terms as Student Body Vice President.

In his free time, Ron facilitates leadership programs for fraternity men and sorority women around the country. He has been a facilitator for the North-American Intrafraternity Conference’s Futures Quest and Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute programs. In 2017, he was recognized as Theta Xi Fraternity’s Outstanding District Director for his work on leadership programs and training for undergraduate members and alumni advisors at RPI, Stevens, MIT, Lehigh and Montclair State.

He also volunteers his time advocating for the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Prior to joining the New Jersey State Bar Association LGBT Rights Section, Ron was a Vice Chair of Garden State Equality - New Jersey’s statewide advocacy and education organization for the LGBT community.

Ron grew up in Passaic, New Jersey, and currently resides with his spouse, Anthony, in Hackensack, New Jersey.
