David J. Heintjes is an associate with Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, PC. His practice focuses on all aspects of labor and employment law and civil litigation. He has experience in the following areas: collective bargaining, employee grievances, employee disciplinary hearings, family and medical leave, Americans with Disabilities Act, civil rights, Constitutional law, criminal law, and discrimination and harassment claims.  He is especially experienced in the unique concerns that face public sector employment, particularly those in law enforcement.
 

Prior to joining Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, PC, Mr. Heintjes was in private practice and served as lead defense counsel to a 6000 member law enforcement union.  While serving in that capacity, Mr. Heintjes not only negotiated a Collective Bargaining Agreement for its members with the State of New Jersey, he also proved himself to be an effective litigator.  Mr. Heintjes successfully tried to decision many cases at the departmental level as well as at the Office of Administrative Law and the Merit System Board. He has an impressive trial record having successfully tried numerous criminal cases to verdicts of not guilty.  Mr. Heintjes also has extensive experience in employment and civil rights suits; both for plaintiffs and defendants.

Mr. Heintjes also donates a significant amount of time advancing the rights of victims of domestic violence.  He has experience in Domestic Violence law and is sensitive to its impact on victims as well as the accused.  In a pro bono capacity, Mr. Heintjes has successfully tried domestic violence matters advocating on both the side of the victim and the side of the accused.
