MITZY
GALIS-MENENDEZ
Mitzy Galis-Menendez concentrates her practice on employment law including sexual harassment, all facets of discrimination as well as civil rights claims and criminal law in state and federal courts.
Mitzy has successfully defended cases on behalf of the Township of North Bergen, City of Paterson, County of Bergen, County of Hudson and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, has collected over $3,000,000.00 on behalf of the State of New Jersey and the County of Hudson in Bail Forfeiture matters and has successfully defended clients charged with criminal offenses. Mitzy also serves as Special Housing Counsel for the Township of North Bergen.
Recognized by the court as an attorney of integrity, she was appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to the District VI Ethics Committee in 2005 and presently serves on the committee. Mitzy has frequently been appointed by the Superior Court as guardian and counsel to potential incompetents. Mitzy is a Trustee of the Hudson County Bar Association and was President of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Hudson County Bar Association from 2003 to 2004. She also served on the Hudson County Minority Concerns Committee from 2003 to 2005.
New Jersey Monthly Magazine named Mitzy to its 2006, 2007 and 2008 list of Rising Star, which recognizes New Jersey's outstanding young lawyers. Rising Stars are nominated by the magazine's Super Lawyers, the top five percent of attorneys in the state.
The Hudson County Bar Association has selected Mitzy as a moderator of its television show Legalities which is a community service program on legal issues affecting residents of Hudson County.
