ANTHONY V. D'ELIA
Anthony D’Elia’s practice encompasses all areas of civil litigation, including commercial, construction, family/matrimonial, real estate law, medical, legal and professional malpractice, labor law, products liability and personal injury matters. He has tried numerous cases to verdict in federal and state courts, including New Jersey’s administrative courts, and has argued before New Jersey’s appellate courts and the State Supreme Court.
Anthony has successfully prosecuted numerous catastrophic injury cases and has obtained multiple jury verdicts in excess of $5 million dollars on behalf of his clients. He recently obtained a $2.9 million dollar verdict on behalf of the family of a woman who died of cervical cancer as a result of a physician’s malpractice. He also obtained a $1.6 million dollar jury verdict on behalf of the family of another decedent who died of a massive cerebral hemorrhage after her physician misdiagnosed her condition.
Anthony also serves as corporation counsel for the Borough of North Arlington, and has been the Board of Education for the City of Clifton’s General Counsel since 1992; a school district that maintains an annual budget in excess of $150 million dollars. In those capacities, Anthony has negotiated collective bargaining agreements, and has represented his clients in connection with binding compulsory arbitration resulting from a failure of those negotiations to reach settlement. He has also negotiated substantial public works contracts on behalf of his clients.
After graduating from St. John’s University, cum laude, in 1979 and Seton Hall University, School of Law in 1982 with a Juris Doctor degree, Anthony served as a New Jersey Deputy Attorney General from 1983 through 1989. He established a private law practice in Bergen County in 1990. Anthony became Of Counsel to Chasan Leyner & Lamparello in October 2002 and a principal of the firm in February 2006.
