JOHN P. BEIRNE
Born and raised in Jersey City, John P. Beirne began his legal career at the Law Firm of Lamb, Hutchinson, Chappell, Ryan and Hartung in 1977. He handled Workers’ Compensation cases, negligence matters and real estate closings with a primary emphasis on defense work for various insurance carriers and self-insureds.
In 1989, John joined the law office of Lee Graham Karosen, house counsel for the CIGNA Insurance Company, where he began to specialize exclusively in the defense of Workers’ Compensation cases.
In 1995 John resumed private practice with the Firm of Michals, Wahl, Silver & Leitner, again specializing in the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims until joining Chasan Leyner in May 2006.
John brings to the Firm over 30 years of experience as a Workers’ Compensation litigator. John works closely with employers in implementing procedures to reduce costs and mitigate future claims and liability. John continually strives to ensure that the firm’s clients receive the best possible protection of their rights under the Workers’ Compensation program.
He served as a Commissioner in the Township of Lyndhurst from 1993 to 1997 overseeing the Department of Public Works. John presently sits on the Planning Board and Rent Leveling Boards in Lyndhurst and also serves as a member of his parish finance council.
